2023 Brace Design Contest

6th Annual Scolios-us Brace Design Contest

The 6th Annual Brace Design Contest officially starts on June 1, 2023, to honor Scoliosis Awareness Month! Follow the instructions below to download the template and submit your design. The deadline to submit your design is June 30th! Good luck!

T-SHIRT FUNDRAISER

To celebrate our 6th anniversary, we are doing a T-SHIRT FUNDRAISER featuring a collage of our 2023 Brace Design Contest designs!  Our goal is to raise money for our Mentor Program and continue spreading awareness for scoliosis

Your design might be chosen for the t-shirt! If you want it to be considered, make sure you check the "yes" box when submitting your design(s). After the contest closes, we will post the final t-shirt design and open up the Bonfire store!

Instructions

1. Download the template from our website.

2. Design your scoliosis brace. You can design the template digitally or you can print it and design using paint, pencils, pens, markers, glitter, feathers, etc.

3. Take a picture or scan your design.

4. Upload it to our website no later than June 30th. This year, we are allowing a maximum of three entries per contestant.

There are four age categories this year: 7 & Under, 8 - 10, 11 - 13, and 14 & Up. After the contest has closed, scoliosis experts will judge the designs. We will one award per age category. We will announce the winners on Instagram, Facebook, and on our website.

Meet Your 2023 Judges!

Ryan Goodwin, MD

Dr. Ryan Goodwin is the Director for the Center for Pediatric and Adolescent Orthopaedics at the Cleveland Clinic. His primary interests include scoliosis and spine deformity, growth modulation with VBT, and pediatric trauma. Dr. Goodwin explains, “I am very interested in newer techniques, both surgical and non-surgical that improve the care of children’s orthopaedic problems.”

Rachel White, CPO

Rachel White is a Certified Orthotist and Prosthetist specializing in the conservative management of scoliosis. She has been a Certified Orthotist for 13 years and has been focusing on managing scoliosis with an orthosis since her residency. Outside of helping her patients, she loves spending time with her family outdoors and traveling.

John Vorhies, MD

Dr. John Vorhies is a pediatric spine surgeon at Stanford. Here's what he had to say about his approach to care: "I try to care for all my young patients the way I would want my own children to be cared for, and I do my best to get to know each patient and understand what matters to them, beyond the orthopedic problem at hand."
