Confidence and Scoliosis – Katy’s Advice for Bracers

Confidence and Scoliosis

So this is just a little post about being confident with scoliosis.๐Ÿ’š

When I first got my brace, I lived in baggy jumpers. Even when it was boiling outside, I used to sit in a jumper and sweat until i felt dizzy and ill, all because I did not want people to see my brace. I went on like this forever until I finally realized that it was nothing to be ashamed of. I knew that I couldn’t spend the summer hidden in jumpers. I’d pass out from the heat! So I eventually worked up the courage to start wearing strappy tops and shorts out and about. These, of course, showed my brace slightly at the top. Yes, I got stares, but I didn’t let them affect me because I learnt to care more about my well being than what others think. I can’t change having to wear a great plastic thing so I might as well learn to live with it in the best way possible.๐ŸŒป

My point is, whether you have a brace, a scar or a wonky body, don’t you dare feel ashamed. Feel proud. Feel positive. Smile. Scoliosis is a part of you and you are never alone in this. Keep going. Xx๐Ÿ’–๐ŸŒธ
