How to Detect Scoliosis

How to Perform the Adams Forward Bend Test

To perform this test, ask the person to put their feet together, put their hands together, and then lean forward. ⁣Notice the ribcage in the drawing on the left. It is symmetrical, meaning that it looks the same on the left side of the spine and on the right side of the spine. In the drawing on the right, notice how the right side of the ribcage is higher than the left side. Because of that asymmetry, or unevenness, we can suspect that scoliosis is present. ⁣⁣
