NEW PUBLICATION | August 2023

Our founder and president Megan Glahn Castille and her colleague Emily Zeck authored an article titled "Clinician-Led Mental Health Conversations Significantly Associated with Outcomes for Scoliosis Patients" in the European Journal of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. In this study, they found that mental health is not discussed by healthcare providers as often as patients desire it, and patients' desire to have these conversations is negatively associated with several clinical outcomes. While providers have some work to do, they also found that talking about mental health was positively associated with several clinical outcomes, which is very encouraging.

The study further solidified the need for our work here at Scolios-us. We are dedicated not only to helping kids and teens with scoliosis navigate treatment, but also to helping practitioners address the psychological side of scoliosis.
