Our Programs

At Scolios-us, our goal is to empower kids and teens with scoliosis and the healthcare providers treating them. That is exactly what our programs are designed to do. Click on the photos below to learn more about each program.

Programs for Kids & Teens with Scoliosis

The Empower Hour

Join The Empower Hour and make some new friends while learning a little more about yourself in the process! Each series consists of four virtual, one-hour video calls. These sessions are led by phenomenal pediatric social workers who make the calls fun and positive, yet informative and practical.

EH Next Level

EH Next Level is a recurring monthly video call for Empower Hour graduates. It’s completely free and is your space to catch up, share, and support each other. Your favorite Empower Hour leaders will be there, too! Unlike the original Empower Hour, there won’t be a set agenda - this is more of a free-flowing space to reconnect and have some fun! During the call, we’ll split into smaller groups, so you can chat with people who relate to you.

Mentor Program

Navigating scoliosis is not always easy, but it sure is easier with someone cheering you on. The Scolios-us Mentor Program offers kids and teens with scoliosis the opportunity to connect with a mentor who knows exactly what they're going through. Although scoliosis impacts 2-3% of adolescents, fewer people need treatment, such as bracing or surgery. That's why we started our Scolios-us Mentor Program - to make this big world feel just a little bit smaller.

Find a Provider

Talking through what you're feeling can be such a powerful tool for you along your scoliosis journey. At Scolios-us, we are creating a network of mental health providers who are knowledgeable about scoliosis. That way, if you want to talk to someone, you can find someone in your area using our Find a Provider page. If you don't see someone in your area, find a provider than you like and send them our way for training!

The Scoli Squad Podcast

The Scoli Squad Podcast is a hosted by kids and teens with scoliosis, sharing real stories from across the scoliosis community. Through honest conversations with fellow scoli patients and families, we aim to educate, empower, and remind listeners that they are not alone on their scoliosis journey.

Programs for Providers

Free Resources for Clinicians

Our Clinicians page is jam-packed with tons of free resources for clinicians who treat scoliosis patients. From interactive outcome measures to free brochures and posters, clinicians can find the assistance they need to support their scoliosis patients.

Mental Health Provider Trainings

We've designed a three-level course to help mental health professionals provide the best care to individuals with scoliosis. The program is designed and led by renowned scoliosis psychologist, Dr. Elisabetta D'Agata, and by Scolios-us Founder, Megan Glahn Castille.

Courses for Orthotists

We've created a 2-hour online, asynchronous course for orthotists to help them support their patients. Orthotists play a key role in the scoliosis experience, and sometimes orthotists are perceived as the "bad guys" because they are providing the brace. We want to help orthotists create the best possible experience for their patients.

Recruit for Your Research

Scolios-us is committed to using our platform to support and advance research within the scoliosis community. We invite clinicians and researchers conducting IRB-approved studies to share recruitment opportunities with our community through the Scolios-us website, newsletter, and social media platforms. Visit our Research Opportunities page to view ongoing studies. If you are interested in having your research highlighted, please contact us at info@bracingforscoliosus.org.
